## The template

> Write this for someone who has never seen the product. If they can build it from this page alone, it is done.

### Problem

Who hurts today, and what does that cost them?

### Solution

The shape of the answer, in a few sentences. Not the implementation.

### Who it is for

- Primary user — what they are trying to get done
- Who this is explicitly not for

### Scope

#### In scope for v1

- [ ]

#### Explicitly out of scope

-

### How we know it worked

One number or one observable behaviour. If nothing would change, do not build it.

### Open questions

-

In Kanso, add a page and pick this template, or type / in any doc.

## How to fill it in

1. Write the problem before any solution.
2. Describe the answer in a few sentences.
3. List what is in the first version, and what is out.
4. Pick one way to know it worked.

## Questions

### What is a PRD template?

A ready-made outline for a product requirements document, with headings for the problem, solution, users, scope, success measure and open questions, so you start from the questions worth answering instead of a blank page.

### How long should a PRD be?

One page for a small feature and up to three for a large one. If it needs ten, split the work into smaller features.

### Can I change the template?

Yes. It is a normal page: delete headings that do not apply and add the ones you need. On Pro you can also save your own version as a reusable template.
